terms of use

These terms are an agreement between you and Study Roomies (“we”, “us”). By using Study Roomies, you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

who can use Study Roomies

• You must be at least 13. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission, and they agree to these terms for you.
• One account per person. Keep access to your email safe, since that's how you sign in, and you're responsible for what happens on your account.
• You can't use Study Roomies if we've removed you before, or if the law doesn't allow it.

be a good roomie

Study Roomies is a shared space. Don't:

• Harass, bully, threaten or intimidate anyone, or keep contacting someone who doesn't want it.
• Post hateful, sexual, violent or otherwise inappropriate names, statuses or other content.
• Pretend to be someone else, or share other people's personal information.
• Spam, advertise, or try to move people to other platforms for scams.
• Cheat or exploit bugs to get coins or items, use bots, or interfere with the app or other people's use of it.
• Break the law, or help anyone else do so.

You can block and report other roomies at any time. We review reports, and we may remove content, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that break these rules, with or without warning. If you think we got it wrong, email support@studyroomies.com.

your content

Things you create, like your display name and status, stay yours. You give us permission to store and show them in Study Roomies so the app can work, for example showing your status to others in your room. Your tasks are private and only visible to you.

coins, items and purchases

• Coins, clothing and other items are a limited, personal license to use them inside Study Roomies. You don't own them, they have no cash value, and they can't be sold, traded or moved outside the app.
• Purchases are made through Apple and follow Apple's terms. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• We may change, add or retire items, prices and how coins are earned. If we ever shut down Study Roomies, unused coins and items end with it, except where the law says otherwise.

our content

The app's art, music, sounds, characters, name and design belong to us or our licensors. You may use them only to use Study Roomies as intended. Sharing your own focus cards, like the ones the app makes for you, is always welcome.

the service

We're always improving Study Roomies, so features may change, and the app may sometimes be unavailable. You can stop using it and delete your account at any time. We may also close accounts that break these terms, or stop offering the app, with reasonable notice where we can.

disclaimers

Study Roomies is provided “as is”. We'll do our best, but we can't promise it will always work, be error-free, or help you reach any goal. It isn't a medical or mental-health service. Other roomies are responsible for what they say and do, not us.

limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or unexpected losses, lost data, or anything caused by other roomies. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or CAD $50, whichever is greater. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

Apple

If you got Study Roomies from the App Store, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the app or its support. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and where it conflicts with these terms, these terms apply to the extent allowed.

the law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, except where your local consumer law gives you the right to use the laws and courts of where you live.

changes

If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes, we'll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect. Using Study Roomies after that means you accept the new terms.
